Hair inspiration

This was supposed to be one of the hairstyles I've seen, been inspired by and then tried.
But I just can't figure out how to make this one!

How would you guys make this one?

Four braids with two for the buns and two to wrap around?
Two braids, start with the buns and wrap the rest around?
Is the braid wrapped around maybe a fake? It looks a little too uniform in thickness all the way around...

  1. I have a crazy theory ^^ it seems to me that the braided part is actually a single braid from the right bun ( viewers point) and that it is all pancaked and fluffed to look symmetrical. But I'm not sure if two braids would create the pattern from sectioning you can see on her head? Maybe the hair is sectioned into four parts,2 for the buns and the braid is lacebraided at the bottom so that the 2 remaining parts are joined into one braid? not sure if it makes sense or if it would work.Either way I think the ends are tucked above the right bun :D

  2. I would try two braids. Looking at the right bun, it seems the accent braid come out from the bottom and then going up and over the left bun. Guessing it's the same mirrored on the left bun. :) Your hair should be long enough for it, someone with shorter hair might have to do it with four braids.

Wish I had the time for it, or I would try it myself just because. :)

  3. I thought you did this one? I may have you mixed up with someone else though ;). I would do two single braids, then some how wrap them around each other. My guess is the braid's criss crossing has been pinned so that it doesnt' fall. I don't think it's possible to french braid---you can see it's not braided into the figure eight.

  4. I don't think that it is impossible to recreate similar style with just one's long hair, but this one on the picture looks like a 8-shaped braided hairpiece over the two regular buns for me

  5. Oh, I forgot, this remindes me about this Torrin's tutorial: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bq0QSgCdeKU&list=PLF3508F6411A91FDE&index=11

  6. I'd say it's two braids. They start as two braided cinnabuns and they cross to wrap around the other bun. You're right, it's oddly uniform in thickness. It may be a hairpiece or maybe the ends that taper are hidden under the buns.

  7. I think I know how this was done. Create two ponytails. Braid ponytails. Wrap around then cross over using tension to the opposite bun and finish wrapping on that side. You'd need to have a fair amount of length to do this, but I know you do! Hahahaha.

  8. :D hehe I keep checking the comments to this to see what others come up with i feel so weird. I tried to do the four section way with two buns and section 3 and 4 braided into one braid on a friend with hip+ length hair (with some taper) yesterday,it works and looks like the picture, but knee length would be too long probably because you'd have a lot of hair left from the 3 and 4 section. If someone with shorter hair wants to do this style maybe ^^
