A colleague complained that she has a strong asymmetrical parting, and it makes it hard to braid.
So I gave it my best shot, but had to admit she was right: There were no way to part her hair completely down the middle without some strong styling product.
And today I remember why I stopped doing this braid-base: The five-stranded start to a Nautilus bun ends up with a strong lopsidedness. It looks great from one side and pretty bad from the other.
(And my new phone is crazy shiny. Damn. Looks slightly creepy with two reflections of my neck like this)
I've been really busy lately, so it's been a while since last I did a good deep conditioning. I decided to do a cassia treatment with one of the nice Korean conditioners from my latest haul.
Mr. Igor of course decided it was the perfect time to sneak up on me and annoy me since I was pretty defenseless (Unless I wanted the entire bathroom to be smeared in cassia mud!)
Mr. Igor is a moron, but I love him.
I did get him to take a picture of the structure of my enormous, muddy mess of a bun though...
So, a while back I went to my massage therapist and she mentioned how a new customer had come in because I had recommended her. She was pretty pleased with having a new regular, and I thought it was pretty cool someone took my recommendation. But I was a little confused as to exactly who in my social circle it had been. My massage therapist said the new customer was called Maria, and based on the description I figured it was doctor-friend-Maria. I know a lot of Marias for some reason.
But when I asked doctor-friend-Maria, she just looked confused. That left me with the theory that maybe it was one of my blog-readers, and a local one too. Which I thought was incredibly cool!
...
But the lesser-cool truth was revealed when I went last time: I'm not the only Ida that goes to that particular massage therapist.
One day at work, I started getting a pain in one of my toes. After a few hours, it had gotten quite irritating. When I went to investigate, I found what looked like a small blister. Of course this left me super confused, since my shoes and socks that day were well worn, and some of my favourites for comforts too. I got a small scissor to cut it open and drain the fluid out, but instead of the clear blister-fluid, out came...
One of Hubby's beard-hairs and a small drop of pus!
What the...?
I've heard and read about hairs getting in under the skin like this, but never seen it in person, so it was quite fascinating to me. My coworkers commented that they would have expected me to have encountered this before, but my own hairs never seem to get into that kind of trouble. They seem to prefer to gather peacefully in quiet corners, and when disturbed, they like to form toe-stranglers instead. Weird.
Mr. Igor wants the record to state that my shed hairs are like the snake and the muscular manly-man is him of course:
I of course say it was like being attacked by a porcupine, but I couldn't find any non-horrifying reaction pictures for that, so here's a crow being rescued from a few quills:
Last week I had a dream that I was delivering some papers to a famous hairtoy designer. Funnily, she looked almost exactly like real life costume-designer-friend. Anyways, she was really rude to me obviously didn't want to talk to me at all, which left me pretty upset in my dream. When I came home from that, I had gotten an anonymous email (Uh?) that linked me to a secret site where people could post trade reviews for other people. In my dream I realized it had been the reason the hairtoy designer had been rude to me, because somehow she had looked me up before I showed up (Weird dream logic is weird). I felt so unfairly treated that the site only had bad reviews for me, since I've been in the longhair circuit for... 15 years? 16 years? Holy crap, has it been this long?? I must have made at least 50 trades over the years by now, and the mail just sometimes doesn't deliver, or even flat out trash your package.
I felt so unfairly treated by that weird, anonymous site that I woke up angry and confused from it. So weird!
This is actually a time of year when I can miss having shorter hair: My buns were so much smaller and cooler on my head. Now, even the most compressed bun I can manage is larger than I can span over with my hand...
These little double, knotted buns were really cute!
And... Holy crap, I didn't think I actually ordered this much?
But spread out on the floor, it took up a lot of space. Hmm!
I'm pretty unhappy with Testerkorea right now: It took over a month to show up. of course this is fair enough for such a haul, but it turned out the delay was caused by a single facial mister that had been discontinued. Not out of stock, discontinued. TK didn't know, or react to this until after I contacted them. Sloppy stock-control like that just pisses me off. it's just plain laziness or not having a system implemented.
Unfortunately, it turned out I don't tolerate Tonymoly's Goat milk series at all. This is one of the items I was really looking forward to try, but after using it twice, my skin was pissed off and full of comedos. Judging from the "scorched" feeling and reaction, I think the problem was a too high pH and a too heavy formula. I gave it away to a college who was surprisingly happy to receive my leftovers, lol.
I thought this was pretty interesting too: I don't tend to order a lot of haircare products from Korean sites. As superior the skincare products generally are for my skin, they seem a bit more "Meh" compared to western products. But, I did pick up a few ampoules, some scalp scalers, a single leave in conditioner and a few regular conditioners...
A visit to my parents usually means I ask my mom to trim my hair, haha.
I've been falling behind on my idea that I would maintain my hair at fingertip length for a while.
Funny how that works: Hair growth is what happens when you're busy making other plans.
Sorry for the slightly blurry picture. It doesn't show the resulting trim very well.
Mom took quite a bit off! And yet I couldn't tell after braiding it again, haha.
I have an appointment with my massage therapist tomorrow. (I highly recommend going to Kana at Frisk o Vacker Hudvård in Lund, should any of my readers be local!)
My hair always seems to be in the way for her work... So far the best option seems to be a slightly lose single braid, but a single braid seems to be mildly irritating to move around for her too: It's too heavy, yet slippery and won't stay in one place.
So I figured I would try with four little braids.
Then I felt like messing around with the four braids and see if I could get something fun or useful out of it.
Hmm, maybe?
Using the four small braids in a form of Royal buns/Minibuns resulted in nicely flattened buns.
Looked funny with two of the braids hanging lose.
All four minibraids pinned up and bunned. Meh, not that cute.
Using the four little braids to form a braided Chinese bun worked pretty well!
