Thoughts on making updo videos

I voiced my thoughts on starting a video series on practical updos for (super long) hair back on the post about the shoelace bun, and I find myself liking the idea more and more.

The angle I want, is to make videos on updos that are actually about the method behind how to create the updo, not a styling or variation video.

I mean, I did the 29 different updos in February challenge but that one was about making updos that looked different. For instance, a simple cinnamon bun can be turned into one bun, two buns, three buns, four buns, stacked on top of each other, placed next to each other, etc. It looks different, but the method isn't.

So now I'm doing some sorting and organizing, looking through my blog to check what I have and what I can do.

Right now I'm sitting at 15-20 videos I would be interested in making. The reason the number is so high, is that I have a few variations I really want to show separately. For instance the Nautilus, which I otherwise love but have grown out of, really needs some focus on tips and variations, such as Luisa's method

Strangely, I have actually had fun with it so far! I think this could be something good and useful.

My goal is to get a video series ready to go for the beginning on September where I go to Læsø with Mr Igor and my family for almost two weeks. It would be nice to have it queued up and automatically posting, so I can take the time completely off.

We'll see. What do you guys think?

  2. I like this idea even better than styling videos! Showing techniques behind updos is actually way more interesting to me. I never got very good with updos no matter how long my hair was, as I couldn't get them to work or couldn't even recreate them. Partially because even at classic thick hair would mean I'd have needed even more length, partially because I'm left-handed and couldn't wrap my head around the instructions and partially because many methods seem to work only for ii hair generally.

  3. oh yes! focusing on variations instead of posting a hair video/updo is just a great idea! I blog about my updo variations and it's going to be a darn long post but it's worth - at least for me - to see which styles I am good at and which ones are a complete fail or simply a waste of time. on dark hair you can't tell the details between a french vs dutch based updo - for example - so I make my life easier by starting with a certain updo base considering how my hair feels that day.
