Head & Shoulders

Following my complaints about my scalp, I have taken Darkhorses advice from the comments and bought a Head&shoulders shampoo.
It honestly feels a little weird. And I really, really can't remember when I last bought a shampoo?? It must have been back when I had my weird coconut oil-fail, back in... Dunno, it must have been at least ten years ago? More?

  1. Not sure if it is available in your country, but Wal-Mart sells a generic copy of this for half price (Equate brand).
I use it once per week.

    1. Hmm, no Walmart here but maybe I can find something similar somewhere else

  2. I hope it helps! Remember to let it sit on the scalp for at least a minute---another option if this doesn't work is using a crushed up asprin or tea tree oil in a conditioner of your choice, if your scalp doesn't like shampoo. I hope this works though---and heavy condition your ends. :)

    1. Thank you! I will remember your advice :) I think I will protect the length with conditioner while I use it. Maybe in a bag too?
Is it weird I'm actually looking forward to trying this?

    2. Not weird at all!! Probably eager to have relief---just one thing I totally forgot to tell you---sometimes you will get MORE itching! The pharmacist (whose son dealt with this really badly) said that is the scalp healing! I only got that when it was a medium to bad flare---for mild flares, I found no itching when using this product--it was more from Nizoral. I hope it helps :) I wouldn't worry about bagging the length---just do a thick conditioning on the ends, don't rinse, then start the shampoo on the scalp. Let sit then rinse out--I find that worked for me :) Though I don't have your amount of hair or coarseness :D

    3. Whoa. Really glad you told me this! I would have freaked out if I had used this and found my scalp got itchy afterwards! They should seriously print this on the product as a warning!!!

  3. I've also bought a small bottle of this about a month ago, due to a flakey, itchy and strangely "waxy" scalp. I've noticed an immediate change for the better, but it's not entirely done yet and I can't seem to use it everyday, it makes my hair weird (kind of static).

    1. Nice! That's good to hear. I thought it would take a while to see results...
Hmm, not every day sort of makes sense if it's a medicated shampoo. Do you use leave in conditioner?

    2. No, I don't use any conditioner, just Broccoli seed oil every once in a while. I only apply it on my scalp and the hair at the roots is fine, but it's the length that gets this weird static feel to it. I just checked the INCIs on my bottle and it has Dimethicone in it. I know that my hair get similar if I use silicone-based hair oils, so it's probably just that.
However, I don't really mind, I'm fine with using it every other day or so. The results definitely are there and it smells so much better than the other medicated shampoo I bought: Birch-Tar and sulfur....

    3. Oh God! Those tar shampoos are NASTY!!! I never found any issues with this, but I would think static would be from the dryer temperature outside no? I mean, my area right now is frigid cold after rain/ice all last week--it's not fun living on a skating rink ;) Hahhahaha

    4. Buchfreundin, is it weird that I'm curious about the choice of broccoli seed oil than the tar and sulfur shampoos? lol. I have actually never heard of broccoli seed oil before (But then again, I'm not a big fan of oils in general...) What is the benefit to it? And whats the difference to other oils? I assume you have tried a lot of other oils before landing on a more rare/specialized one XD
